Travels, Thus Far

It's kind of hard to talk about each trip that I take. I tried doing that on my Paris blog, but I feel that the pictures do a much better job.

Toledo:

El Escorial (The main Spanish Palace) and El Valle de Los Caidos:

This giant ass monument is one that Franco built to commemorate the fallen from the Spanish Civil War. Only, you can only find two names in the tomb: Franco's and José Antonio Primo de Rivera, the guy who started up his political party, FET.

Your fun fact for the day: The US supported Franco being a dictator. Why? Because that meant the end of the communist regime. And a dictator is better than communism any day of the week...Another example of how the US supports "spreading democracy," but supporting dictators if it's convenient for them.

Another fun fact for the day: This basilica was built by political prisoners.

Segovia:

I needed a picture with this guy. "Narizotas" means "big noses."

Look very closely at the two women...

Isabel the Catholic's castle was amazing. They even let me taking pictures!

Tiny doors make me realize that I would have been considered tall in the middle ages. For some perspective, I'm only 5'2".

The last thing that we did on this trip was go to a park where they have this amazing water show at four of the fountains. We all ended up soaked. Cool fact about this fountain: See all those tiny colors on the wall? Those are seashells.
